If we want to learn about the origin of the FRIGERA trademark we have to look decades into the past:

1924

The Prague company Vobořil a spol. took over the general agency of automobiles produced by "General Motors New York". In addition to automobiles this concern also produced cooling systems.

1926

Vobořil a spol. took over the general agency of cooling systems under the trademark "FRIGIDAIRE". Their activities in the area of cooling lay in the assembly of whole units from imported parts.

1929

Growing interest in cooling systems resulted in the division of the original company into the general agency of automobiles and a new plant for the production of cooling systems, Frigera a.s. At that time other companies were established in Lužnice, Beroun, Hořice and Hronov. Due to their experience Frigera retained a privileged position. A year later the company started manufacture of its own distribution furniture. Assembly delivery continued.

1934

On the basis of its experience and acquired skills General Motors assigned Frigera a licence for the production of cooling compressors and plant sets. That year the previously used coolant - SO2 (sulphur dioxide) was replaced with a new coolant, Freon  R12. Further years then proceeded in the spirit of great expansion of the cooling technology, which started to expand into all the branches

1939

For the first time a cooling system ensuring a temperature below 60°C intended for laboratory purposes was manufactured.

1941

Cooling systems were produced in a new joint-stock company, Báňská a Hutní. The manufacturing programme consisted in distribution furniture, cooling plants and condensing units. These products were produced under the licence of the company Linde and sold under the "FRIGOMAT" trade mark.

1946

Serial production of the distribution cooling systems and cooling plants increased. After Báňská a Hutní was nationalized it was renamed "Works for Cooling and Food Machines". These works combined 18 plants in total in Bohemia and Moravia.

1949

The company took over the name Frigera n.p. Kolín. Following several reorganizations the enterprises for the production of food equipment separated, and after the liquidation of works for production of the cooling systems in Prague, Hronov and Hořice only the basic business in Kolín remained, with a subsidiary warehouse in Beroun.

1989

After this year Frigera a.s. started production of an innovated programme of deep-cooling laboratory tables and boxes, rust-free equipment for laboratories and kitchens.

1991

With a transition for organizing into divisions the company carried out major organizational changes and the issue of the entry of foreign capital to Frigerea started to be discussed.

1992

In Frigera a stock company was established with the company Thermo King for the production of compressors and block units for transport cooling.

1993

On the basis of the subsidiary plant in Beroun a stock company was established with Linde for production of distribution furniture. The capital interests of Frigera in these joint companies were gradually sold.

1996

The subsidiary Frigera Slovakia s.r.o. was established with its registered office in Bánská Bystrica; this company is the exclusive importer of Frigera a.s. equipment to the Slovak Republic.

1998

In June a desirable concentration in the ownership structure of Frigera was accomplished, which enabled the enterprise to start fundamental restructuring. First, this structure was based on a transfer of production - business activities according to the branch principles and therefore the subsidiaries Frigera 21, a.s. and Frigera METAL, a.s. were established in 1999. Frigera Metal is an important firm processing metal, which is able to satisfy customers in various branches. Currently, Frigera 21 is one of the important producers of cooling systems in Central and Eastern Europe.

2007

Part of the operations in Kolín were relocated to new premises in Zruč nad Sázavou.
